“Our country has no poverty, you guys don’t know how lucky you are!!1!!” - Singaporeans, and presumably other first wold country citizens. I don’t define poverty as thin black people running around in tattered clothes. You’re just too blinded by your country’s so-called ”successes” that you can’t see the plight of the lower and lower middle class citizens. Also your reason that you’re only proud of your country because other people in other countries are starving makes me sick. I’d be more proud of my country when it spends more on charities and healthcare rather than military. I’d be more proud of it when it respects the decisions i make in my life and stops forcing me to enlist in the army to waste 2 years of my youth. I’d be more proud of it when political control/oppression of the press, opposition parties, and activists are lifted. I’d be more proud of it when it stops taxing on necessity goods, healthcare and power and water usage. Call my cynical but I just make an effort to see the bullshit behind the words that the govt spews out.
